Protect Your Computer

Malware Notice - Spring 2009

Please read this important notice regarding the recent outbreak of fake spyware and virus scanners.

Virus protection
Antivirus software helps protect your computer against harmful software which is written to take advantage of your computer system and potentially transmit, destroy or change important information on your computer. It is very important that you not only have an Antivirus program installed but that you constantly update it. Luckily most programs will automatically update themselves given that you have scheduled it to do so and that you have an internet connection at the time it tries to update.

MHC has a site license for all students, faculty and staff:

  • McAfee - for Windows-based PCs
  • Virex- for Macintosh Computers running OSX

Protect Your PC - from hackers, viruses and spyware.  These programs are commonly used to help protect PC systems from Malware.  Remember if you see any popups on your computer that seem suspicious, please POWER your PC OFF, and do not click your mouse on any open windows.
